感謝您購買本公司出版之VOCABULARY 2001～4000─實用必備2000單字書。關於您所提出的問題，我們都已經仔細檢視原書，並記錄下來做為將來改進之依據。關於plumber的中文解釋及翻譯，首先你的理解並沒有錯誤，你的顧慮也很正確。基本上單字書的中文解釋翻譯，會以該單字主要的意思來列，有許多同義的解釋可能無法全部列上。主要還是以英文解釋為主，中文翻譯當然以該句意來解釋。
以本書例句: I am going to have a plumber fix the toilet. 我要找個水管工人來修馬桶。
這裡水管工人，當然可以理解成修馬通的人。但不能翻成水電工。因為在歐美國家中，水管、馬通浴室等工作是由「水管工人」有些會翻成「鉛管工人、管子工、水暖工」(plumber) 來進行修繕。但是與電線相關工作，是由「電工」(electician)。但是因為台灣，這兩項工作都是由「水電工」來做，所以會有翻譯的誤解。
